BEST BABY GYM PLAYMATS 2018, FROM MAMAS & PAPAS.

Hello and thanks for visiting my review of the best baby gym playmats, made from Mamas & Papas. Whether you want a basic design or a make that has more features to entertain your baby, I am confident that you will find it here.

I will be reviewing each of the designs to give you and idea of a cross section of what is available to you from Mamas & Papas.

We will look at what age each is suitable from.

The features of each.

The price versus what you actually get.

And some other alternatives to buying a playmat or baby gym.

The Offspring Lion playmat and gym.Best baby gym playmat 2018

So first we will look at the Offspring lion playmat. It is the cheapest of the baby playmat gyms on this review page, but it still has some nice features to it, as follows.

First of all it can be used for your baby from birth onward. Although once your baby reaches 5 months old or starts to sit and push up, it is recommended to remove the hanging toy arches.

The dimensions measure height 49cm, width 70cm, depth 94cm. It comes with a comfortable padded wedge style base to be supportive of your baby’s tummy time.

The arches include soft hanging toys with sounds and textures to amuse your little one. Lots bright colours to capture your baby’s attention and if you are look for a basic, yet very functional baby playmat then you could do far worse than this one. For the price I think it is a fair reflection of what you get for your money too.

The Wish upon a cloud playmat and gym.A luxury baby play gym

So next is Wish upon a cloud. It is I nice playmat and gym. It measures at H 48 x W 106 x D 82 cm. It also comes with a light up soft penguin toy. The base is extremely well padded and very soft.

The gym arches are fully detachable, and when up have 4 adorable little soft hanging toys. The toys make different noises to stimulate your baby and this playmat is suitable from birth too.

Again the recommendation is to remove the toy arches once your baby turns 5 months or starts to sit up own their own. Overall a nice playmat with similar features to the one above, however it is made from better materials and has a couple more perks.

The Wish upon a cloud is available for £75.

The Interactive lights and sounds playmat with hanging toys. This is very entertaining

Then we have the Interactive Playmat. This playmat, as the name suggests has many features to entertain your baby during tummy time. It has a luxury padded base and has a light up sun toy.

There are 2 removable arches that cross and come with 4 removable soft toys for your baby to grab. The hanging cloud toy has 3 different sound choices for you to turn on.

This playmat measures at H 56 x W 85 x D 90 cm. It is also suitable from birth and with so many great features should give you and your baby lots of fun tummy time together.

The Interactive Lights and Sounds Playmat with cost you £89 from Mamas & Papas.

The Magic Stargaze light and sound playmat and baby gym.A top of the line baby playmat gym

However, if you are going to pay for a playmat at the higher end of the scale, I would suggest looking at the Magic Stargaze Light and Sound playmat and gym here. First of all it is quite a good sized H 51 x W 102 x D 96 cm. It comes with teething toys for when your baby is a little older.

There is an interactive touch pad for baby to use to amuse themselves with. There is a music player and light up functions so your baby should love this playmat when having tummy time with mum or dad on the extra comfy cushion and mat.

It is suitable from birth and will cost you £99. It is the most expensive on the list but you do get a really premium product at the end of the day.

Some other alternatives.Great for baby’s that can sit up

If your don’t like a playmat baby gym then you could also look at the sit and play soft floor chairs from either Wish up on a cloud or Offspring. They are both £29 and if your baby is 6 months onward, are a nice item to have to put your baby in for a while, so they can amuse and play themselves. An alternative to a playmat

Great article. The only thing is that the picture given on the interactive lights and sounds playmate with hanging toys does not actually visually describe the unit

    1. Hi and thanks for pointing that out. I will have a look at fixing that to help make it more appropriate to the description.

Hi Kenny. I love the post. I have 10 grandchildren and I had a playmat for each of them when they were born. They did so well on them that usually their Mommy or Daddy would ask to borrow my playmat. You’re right. They were seldom returned. LOL
A playmat is a must for any grandparent to have on hand for those times that baby is just dropped off for a little bit. Babies love them.
I’ve never seen the soft sit and play chairs. I will have to get one of those, too.
    Thanks for this useful information.
    All the best.

My sister’s son always bang himself in the head while playing on the floor. This playmats is very helpful with its soft cushioning. Now we dont need to worry about him crashing all over the place. It works as a day bed too. He will take a nap on it sometimes.

    1. Kenneth Glossop says:

yes they are so handy to have as they are safe and can entertain baby’s for a long time.

Hi. I love and adore small babies more especially when they are toothless, I enjoy them a lot and looking at them playing washes away any stress or bad moods I might have.

The little guys little mats and or chairs are so ad and cute for the little cuties. And it is good that some of the attached features can be detach as those little pretty and cute angels like to explore or experiment with their mouths that they may end up Swallowing those items and choke.

I plan to have a little someone so if it does happen I may consider buying one of those beautiful gym mats.

    1. Kenneth Glossop says:

    Hi Kenny,

What a wonderful assortment of playmat reviews!

I love the looks of the Offspring Lion Playmat and gym…it looks so very colorful and plus, the cute animals hanging above should catch a baby’s attention very easily, I know my kids would have loved it when they were babies.

I also like how soft the Wish Upon a Cloud one looks, it looks much more padded than the rest of the playmats, but maybe that’s just me, lol. The toys included are very cute too, those penguins look very soft and cuddly for baby!

The last one in your list of playmats here, the Magic Stargaze Light and Sound is another one that I’d definitely love to get, it sounds like it has everything a baby would love. I know my kids always loved lights and sounds, but especially music. I think this one would be the one I’d get for mine since it has a music player along with lights, and even teething toys for when they’re a bit older.

So glad you shared these, I have a baby shower coming up way too soon for a relative of mine and needed ideas for a gift. These all definitely look like some wonderful options that I’m sure they’d love for their baby. I’ll have to check these out more!

Although my kids are not babies anymore I’m looking at some of these mats/gyms and thinking there are terrific and wish I could have gotten one.

Not going to have another baby now, but I will recommend these to people I know with new borns

Baby gym playmates can help babies in their development with stimulating toys and space for tummy time to help build arm and neck strength. Your all recommendations are great. I like the offspring lion playmat and gym because its padded base is very soft and comfortable for babies and it comes with lots of hidden features. Great review, thanks for sharing.

Like the look of the these Mamas and Papas Products and I can see that a lot of thought has gone into the design of these products.

They have focused on all aspects of a babies learning, the the use of different textures, shapes, and levels.

I will be sharing these products on social media with some of the mummy groups.

    Many thanks for sharing

I’ve been searching the internet for a suitable Christmas present for my niece and I think I finally found it. She is only a few weeks old now so by Christmas time I think the Wish Upon A Star play-mat will be just perfect. Love, love, love it.

I am even thinking about getting the matching sit and play soft chair for later. Great prices and I reckon I could stretch to getting both.

Thanks heaps for a great review and Merry Christmas to you and your family.

    1. Kenneth Glossop says:

What a fun article on playmats. I wish these were available when my children were babies. I’d like to buy one for my granddaughter. I think I like the Offspring Lion playmat best. The colorful colors are what sold me, and I also like the hanging toys and different textures. I can see a baby absolutely loving this! Thank you.

    1. Kenneth Glossop says:

  18. Sujandar Mahesan says:

The Magic Stargaze light and sound playmat and baby gym – This is the one I like the most from all the baby Gym Playmats published in this article. I really loved all of them, they were all cute. But this one suits my cousin better. I do not mind paying more for this.

Thank you for sharing this article with these amazing play mats.

    1. Kenneth Glossop says:

Hi yes the stargaze is a real favourite for many of my site visitors and I think it is a very nice fit for any parent and baby.

  19. Andrew G says:

Hey Kenny, the sit and play floor chair looks interesting as I had a heck of a time with my daughter in one of the chairs that swing, so if that makes someone uncomfortable in having their bouncing baby go back and forth half the day and potentially throwing up everywhere. (That obviously happened to me), then this is the best option to keep them sitting in one place.

    1. Kenneth Glossop says:

Yes the play chair is great. I used one for both of my sons so for sure I can vouch for it’s usefulness. Thanks for your visit and comments.

  20. Daniella says:

    Hi there,

Awesome article! I really liked the reading!

What a great list of baby gym playmats! My babies are already adults today but my little sister just gave birth a few months ago, and it would be good for her baby boy to have something to play with while my sister is doing things. I really like the offspring lion as it is beautiful, but I also like the magic stargaze. Which of them would be more comfortable for a baby of 2-month-old?

Thank you for this excellent post!

    1. Kenneth Glossop says:
