BABY SLEEPER BEDS, WHY BUY ONE?

So, here we will be looking at baby sleeper beds, why you should want one and where you can find them. I have looked at various different brands and unlike other types of baby apparatus there is quite a difference in quality, but not necessarily in price if you know where to look. Which is great for us parents as we can can pick up a top quality Co-baby sleeper for a very reasonable price. The best value for your money in my view is the BabyLo Cozi Sleeper from Amazon.

SO WHY SHOULD YOU GET ONE?

Let’s look at when you would look to use one first for a moment, when your baby is outgrowing their Moses basket, it is time to start thinking about where your baby should sleep next. Now this is completely your choice, but should ideally avoid your baby sleeping with you at this stage. The safest scenario is for your little one to be sleeping in the same room as you, but in their own bed. Don’t just take my word for it, read up on safe sleeping babies, on one of my other posts.

This is where the BabyLo Cozi Sleeper, or the co-sleeping crib as they are also sometimes called, really come in. You can get most at a decent size, they usually recommend you be used for up to 9kgs, which is normally when baby is about 5-6 months. Once your baby can sit up or crawl on their own it is time to move them to a cot bed of some sort.

IT’S NICE TO HAVE YOUR BABY CLOSE, RIGHT?

The main reason to have a baby sleeper is that you can have baby’s bed right next to you without having to share bed sheets or covers, and there by reducing the chances of SIDS, (sudden infant death syndrome), if you were sharing a bed with them. It could be that you don’t want to use a Moses basKet and just go straight for the co-sleeper.

It’s a good feeling to be close to your baby, and the added benefit is that if you are breast feeding then baby is right there next to you. Also, if you had a tough birth, like my wife, who lost a lot of blood, and had stitches afterwards, it is actually really beneficial to have easy access to your baby when they need feeding or comforting in the night.

WHERE CAN YOU FIND A GREAT CO-SLEEPER FOR YOUR BABY?

As most parents know there will be more than a few places to find a baby apparatus, I would recommend amazon as a good place to start your search, simply because they have such a large selection, although by no means all, of baby sleepers to choose from. As I have stated my choice is the BabyLo Cozi Sleeper, featured here. Which for the price is in my view a very good option as it comes with:

. 2 FREE sheets worth £25

. A storage bag

. An easy to use zip side down panel for when fixing next to parents bed, 2 wheels are attached so you can move it from room to room with more ease.

. Multi height options on both sides allow you to have your sleeper at an inclined angle if you wish, perhaps to help with congested breathing and reflux.

. It is usable form birth up to 9kgs.

. It comes with a comfortable quality mattress and 2 clip on straps for securing to your bed. It has a soft quilt lining on the sides with mesh for easy viewing of your child.

You can view my choice of baby sleeper, and also compare similar brands and designs yourself and decide if a BabyLo Cozi Sleeper is right for you and your baby clicking any of the links or pictures on this page.

I hope this has been a useful article, and as always I thank you for taking the time to visit my site and read my work.

Hi Kenny… I’ve really enjoyed your website as well as the info posted here… it’s very inspiring for someone who’s just had a child and doesn’t have much experience dealing with this subject… thank you!

I have never heard of this type of product before, but it seems amazing. I really didn’t even think about alternatives to the crib. When I started reading your article I was thinking, “now why would this even be necessary?” But I quickly saw the value as soon as you began to explain how it helps with nursing and comforting the baby at night.

I am not currently a mother but someday I hope to be one. I will come back to your site when the time comes and check these out seriously!

    Hi Kenny

I just seem to leave your website!

How does the co-sleeper work then? Does it press up to the side of the parents bed? I assume it does.  I think this is a brilliant  design and one that can give that re-assurance especially to first time parents.

My youngest was a climber and when he was old enough to go in a crib, he climbed out on to the bed!  We took the side of  the crib and had a bigger version of the co sleeper so in my opinion this is such a good idea and one I know  works extremely well!

Hi great you like the post and I hope you will come back and share the one you mentioned that worked so well for you.

  7. Michel says:

Wow, haven’t seen one of these around before. When I saw the picture, I was wondering what happened to the side, but then realized that that is the side that goes next to your own bed.

I would have found this gadget very useful when I had my daughter 12 years ago, as we just ended up with her sleeping in-between the two of us, which wasn’t ideal and you don’t get enough rest yourself at times.

I like the fact that you can also adjust the height of the sleeper and put it on a slight incline which is good for colic and winds.

    1. Kenneth Glossop says:

Yes I think that can be very useful too, and I’m glad you liked my review of them. Thank you for visiting my site and I hope you come back soon.

  8. Susan says:

    Kenny,

This would have been a perfect product when I had my children; I would have loved having one of these.  Not only so convenient but handy for keeping them close during the night to comfort them.

I hopefully will be expecting a new grandchild next year and was wondering if these are available in the United States?

I have not seen any advertised here and was thinking this would be a perfect baby gift for my daughter-in-law if everything works out. I like the fact that it has the incline position to help with breathing and influx plus the wheels making it easily portable through the house keeping baby near by.

Thanks for this wonderful article I will be on the lookout for one.

    Susan

    Hi Kenny

Thanks for reviewing this cot on your site; I was interested to see other’s views on it.  Just a quick question that went through my mind – is the cor quite secure when it’s attached to the bed? You say it attaches with clip on straps – where or how does it attach if you don’t mind me asking?

Thank you – all the best for your site!

    Michelle

    1. Kenneth Glossop says:

Hi and thanks for getting back to me. The cot attaches to the base of the bed or mattress by putting the straps around them to keep securely in place. Thanks Kenny

Very informative article on baby sleeper beds for new parents and expectant parents. It’s easy to be overwhelmed at the vast amount of information available as well as trying to factor in any potential risk to your baby. You have provided a good review of a product along with a link to another article dealing with keeping your newborn safe while sleeping. I would definitely recommend this article and your website to new parents doing research on sleeping options for their baby.

    1. Kenneth Glossop says:

Hi that’s a very good point. Sometimes too much information can make your head spin. It’s why I hope that this review was useful and easy to understand. Thanks, Kenny

    Hi Kenny,

What a great product!  When I had babies years ago, we had concerns about SIDS and other things they might get up to in the night. This resulted in them being in between us on our bed, many times disturbing our sleep.  This bed would have allowed at least one of us to get a little more rest.

I have friends that could really benefit from one of these. I clicked through to Amazon, and alas, it doesn’t ship over here to the Philippines.  We’ll have to search  a bit to see if we find one here or one online that will ship to us.

    Thanks for the information.

    Joe

Hi that’s great, I appreciate you taking the time to reply to me , and even though you can’t go through Amazon, I hope you still find a great deal elsewhere for your frinds. Thanks, Kenny
